The latest edition (March) of Backpacker Magazine includes tips and advice from long distance hikers Matt Kirk, Heather “Anish” Anderson and yours truly.
I haven’t actually seen a copy as yet. The Mexican postal service is a little slow at the best of times. To make matters more complicated, my local postman, Pablo (that’s him pictured below during the Christmas rush), has seemingly taken an extended leave of absence. I’ve been told his numbers came up in the recent Mexican National Lottery. Apparently he was last seen driving a Hummer heading north out of Chihuahua city.
According to local sources, they’ll give it another six weeks to see if he returns. If he hasn’t shown up by then, the search for a new postman will begin.
